English version:

We woke up after a good night’s sleep in the Confluencia camp. Everyone is doing great, but we are all experience a little upset stomach and nausea – but nothing that could be considered as anyone being sick. After breakfast, we packed our bags to be ready for the mules and headed up to the base camp of Plaza de Mulas.

We traveled over 20 km today with elevation of 900 meters. As before, we were in awe of the magnificent landscape and the unlimited color variations.  After walking through the glacier moraines,  we hiked up the steep and narrow Horcones valley to the moraine that markes the Plaza de Mulas base camp. The base campsite at Plaza de Mulas (4200m) is situated on big rocky glacial moraine just off the Horocones Valley.

Towards the narrow end of the valley, we saw Guanaco animal, which  is some sort of a small  llamas. We stopped to observe it better and shortly we thought  we had seen a condor by the enormous rock wall.

After over 8 hours of hiking, we arrived at our camp in 4,350 meters.  We were all ready for resting as the elevated hike was challenging, especially in the burning sun and incredibly dry and thin air.

Best regards,

The Aconcagua Team.
